The Founding Fathers

Grandad William E. Danhauer Sr. opened the store in 1904 at the corner of 4th and Frederica streets in Owensboro. At the age of 47, he married and fathered six sons. Many years later, he was joined by his sons James and William Jr. (Bill) who took over as partners after his death. Bill's son Jeff joined the family business in 1981, taking over for James. Bill and Jeff continue to run the store today
Bill Danhauer William Danhauer Jr. only had two weeks to see his family after finishing his enlistment with the Navy, before going off to the Louisville College of Pharmacy. During his enrollment at Louisville, the school merged with the University of Kentucky, where he graduated from in 1950. After graduation William Jr. returned to work at his father's store.
Uncle Jim James Danhauer also went to work at his father's store in 1950 with William Jr. James remained devoted to the company his father started until March of 1981 when he passed away.
